Lim Young-min has officially left AB6IX following DUI offence.
On June 8, Brand New Music reportedly released a statement, confirming the news of his decision to depart the group after thorough discussions with the singer.
“After careful talks with Lim Young-min, we have decided to respect his wishes that he wants to quit so as not to damage the team further,” the agency said on AB6IX’s official fan site, according to Korea JoongAng Daily.
Earlier this month, the South Korea-based label announced that its artist was suspended from the group’s upcoming promotions after being caught under the influence on May 31.
His actions ultimately forced the group to postpone the release of their EP ‘Vivid’ from June 8 to June 29 due to regrouping as a four-member group.
The K-Pop star apologised to fans, AB6IX and agency’s staff for his regretful actions in a handwritten letter on the group’s fan community site, after his agency decided to halt his activities with the group.
Brand New Music is reportedly making adjustments to exclude Lim’s part in the album’s tracks, photographs, music video and other related promotional goods, yet some already finalised content will include the singer due to time constraint.
He officially debuted as a leader of AB6IX alongside Jeon Woong, Kim Dong-hyun, Park Woo-jin, and Lee Dae-hwi with EP ‘B:Complete’ last year.

Lim Young-min will not be part of his group AB6IX’s activities following his DUI.
On June 4, his agency Brand New Music revealed in a statement on its artists’ official fan site that Lim was caught drunk driving by local police on May 31 while on his way back to his dorm after meeting acquaintances.
As a result of his DUI incident, his driver’s license has been revoked and AB6IX’s comeback, which was initially set to take place on June 8, has been pushed to June 29 due to member reorganisation.
The rookie K-Pop group will promote their EP ‘VIVID’ with only four members: Jeon Woong, Lee Dae-hwi, Park Woo-jin and Kim Dong-hyun.
His agency has apologised and stated that its artist will fully cooperate with the police for further investigation if required.
Following the agency’s statement, the Lim posted a handwritten letter on the group’s fan community site, apologising to fans, Brand New Music staff and AB6IX for his actions.
Prior to joining AB6IX, Lim competed in reality K-Pop audition show ‘Produce 101 Season 2’ in 2017 and was part of duo MXM with fellow participant Kim Dong-hyun after he was eliminated.
AB6IX made their official launch as a five-member group with debut EP ‘B:Complete’ and title track ‘Breathe’ last year. According to the band’s tracklist, their upcoming EP will include six tracks: ‘Red Up’, ‘Vivid’, ‘The Answer’, ‘Surreal’, ‘Midnight Blue’ and ‘Hold Tight’.

Stray Kids is joining this month’s comeback with brand new music.
JYP Entertainment’s boy group announced the exciting news with an intense trailer, revealing that the release of album ‘GO’ or ‘GO LIVE’ will drop on June 17.
The group will be joining a number of K-Pop groups dropping new music in June. Some notable names include Twice, Weki Meki, AB6IX and N.Flying.
Following the album’s release, Stray Kids is scheduled to perform remotely at the ‘KCON:TACT 2020 Summer’ online K-Pop festival which is scheduled to stream between June 20 to 26 on Mnet K-Pop’s official YouTube channel.
In addition to releasing singles, self-composed songs and covers, the group also released compilation album ‘SKZ2020’ back in March.
Stray Kids is currently composed of eight members: Bang Chan, Changbin, Hyunjin, Felix, Seungmin, Lee Know, Han and I.N. The group debuted under K-Pop behemoth, JYP Entertainment, in 2018 and rose to become one of the most popular boy bands on the K-Pop scene.
